Miroslav Radman's latest book a hit in France

Miroslav Radman's latest book published in France, Au-delà de nos limites biologiques (Beyond Our Biological Limits), has garnered a great deal of interest in France, and has been the subject of reports by leading French electronic and print media.

French weekly Le Point dedicated an article and a headline to Radman's book, featuring him as the “man who promises immortality… (or almost)," and the book was also featured in an interview of Miroslav Radman on the French Canal+ show Le Grand Journal.

“It is a surprise to have found myself and my book on the cover of France's most read serious weekly, Le Point," Radman said. "It is a great compliment, because I have always wanted to bring science closer to the public—to those who really pay for our research," he was quoted as saying by the McCann Erickson public relations agency.

The French weekly featured Radman in an article on France's fifteen leading scientists in all areas of research entitled "These Science Adventurers Will Change Our Lives."

In his book, released in France on 1 June by publisher Le Plon, Radman speaks "of life and death, research and researchers with a great dose of criticism and of the spirit of the times in which we live, underlining the need to emancipate ourselves in relation to our biological limitations and in relation to tradition, which we nurture like a parasite that thwarts development," the press release goes on to say.

Radman emphasises the need for change, pointing to the sterile overemphasis on the application of the "principle of caution" and underlining the importance of visions and visionaries in opposition to the fear of imagination and creativity, the motors of human development. Radman in particular points to the reasons Europe is straggling behind China and the USA in terms of its economy and technology, wondering why Europeans are so fearful and conservative.

"This book forecasts a brilliant and still secret discovery. It is a fascinating take on genesis. How to almost arrive at the elixir of youth from two bacteria? And the book delves into the philosophical, social and spiritual questions that this kind of biological progress could dictate. Among these are the fundamental questions of what our world will look like if we achieve immortality," says Radman's French publisher.

Recommending the book to all and sundry French critic Chantal Le Montagner underscores the fact that the book "is the start of a new genre," adding that it "it is read in a single breath thanks to its melding of the personal and the scientific."

Le Montagner goes on to say that it is a book in which the "scientific information is entirely comprehensible and easily readable thanks to the imaginative use of metaphors and examples."
